Judge Schwartz was appointed to the Fourth Judicial District Court bench in January 1997. Prior to his appointment to the District Court bench, Judge Schwartz served as Deputy District Attorney. Judge Schwartz received his undergraduate degree and law degree from the University of Colorado. His workload consists of civil and criminal cases.
Judge Schwartz serves on committees and functions at the courthouse. He also assists with Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) activities.

Of the attorneys, 83% recommended Judge Schwartz be retained in office, 14% somewhat recommend retain, 3% recommend not retain and 0% recommended he not be retained in office. Of non-attorneys responding to the questionnaire, 93% recommended retention and 2% recommended non-retention.
