Judge William West has served as a judge in the 19th Judicial District since 1987. He was appointed chief judge in 1994. In addition to his administrative duties as chief judge, he hears all probate and mental health cases, as well as all civil cases.
Evaluations of Judge West by members of law enforcement agencies, attorneys, jurors and court personnel were reviewed by the Commission. The overwhelming majority of those surveyed praised Judge West for his impartiality, knowledge of the law, courtroom control, punctuality and clear rulings.
