Judge Villano was appointed to the First Judicial District Court in October, 1977. Previously, he was an assistant to the U.S. Attorney in Colorado for two years and then practiced law in Wheat Ridge for 14 years. He was recently the President and Vice-President of the Colorado District Judges Association. He participates in community activities such as student mock trials, Law Day and community lectures.
Judge Villano presides over criminal, civil, probate, juvenile and mental health cases.
Responses from all groups questioned overwhelmingly support Judge Villano’s retention.
Essentially all respondents indicated that he displayed a sense of justice and treated all parties equally. He received high ratings for his extensive knowledge of the law and procedures. He was praised for his fairness, intellect, thoughtfulness, and his continued display of proper judicial temperament.
Based on this information the Commission on Judicial Performance recommends Judge Villano SHOULD BE RETAINED.
