Judge Jack F. Smith graduated from the University of Michigan in 1961, and the University of Michigan Law Scholl in 1965. He is married, and his wife Nancy is a retail business owner. The couple have three daughters and live in Littleton.
Judge Smith has been on the bench for 15 years. In 1981 he started as a magistrate, was a County Court Judge, and became a District Court Judge in 1987. Before taking the bench he was counsel to the State Court Administrator.
Judge Smith enjoys a reputation as a fair and compassionate man who takes his judicial responsibilities very seriously. He participates in training and mentoring programs for young attorneys. His evaluations were most positive and spoke well of his continuing interest in ongoing legal education. He is a faculty member of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.
