The Fourth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge Larry Edward Schwartz BE RETAINED.

Judge Larry Edward Schwartz was a Deputy District Attorney prior to being appointed to the bench. Judge Schwartz has been a District Judge for three years with his workload consisting of 50% domestic relations and 50% felony; now it is civil and criminal.

Some of Judge Schwartz's community activities have been serving as a team leader for YMCA membership; being the former chairman of the Colorado Springs Realtors Commercial and Industrial Society, having been a past chairman of the Realtor/Lawyer Committee of the Colorado Springs Board of Realtors and being active as well in the Pikes Peak Marathon and the Colorado Springs Dance Theatre.

In the self-evaluation, Judge Schwartz described his strengths as staying current on the law and his attempts to render decisions that are clear and simple. He also believes in fairness and equality. Judge Schwartz' greatest attribute is using a common sense approach to application of the statutes.

To his credit, the majority of those polled believe he is competent and fair. The section of the poll in which various groups evaluate Judge Schwartz was quite favorable. Of those responding, 96% of Court/Probation employees, 77% of litigants, 89% of Law Enforcement, 100% of Social Services personnel, 50% of crime victims, 100% of jurors and 96% of attorneys felt he should be retained.
