The Commission unanimously recommends that Judge Robert H. Russell, II BE RETAINED.
Judge Robert H. Russell, II has been serving as a County Court Judge since June 8, 1989. From October 25, 1985 to his appointment to the County Court bench, Judge Russell served as an Arapahoe County Magistrate.
Judge Russell was a member of the United State Air Force from January 1964 to July 1984. He attended law school during that time at the University of Puget Sound School of Law in 1975. Prior to his appointment as a magistrate in 1985, Judge Russell was in private practice and worked for the Arapahoe County District Attorney’s Office.
Judge Russell presides over civil, traffic, misdemeanor and felony cases.
The Commission met with Judge Russell and considered the evaluations and comments received from jurors and attorneys who practice in his court. Judge Russell was given very high ratings by both attorneys and jurors. These superior ratings were supported by the positive comments received regarding Judge Russell. The Judge was given especially favorable ratings concerning his courtroom demeanor, patience, fairness and knowledge of the law.
