Judge Rothenberg received her undergraduate degree in 1965 with a major in English, and received her Initial (J.D) law degree from the University of Miami Law School in 1968. From 1968 through 1971, she attended Georgetown Law Center as the recipient of the E. Barrett Prettyman Fellowship in Criminal Law and received a master’s degree from Georgetown in law (L.L.M.). She was admitted to the Florida and Colorado Bar in 1971. She engaged in private law practice in Colorado form 1971 through 1973 and then returned to a Georgetown Law Center as a visiting professor from 1973 to 1975. In 1976, she returned to Colorado and again engaged in private law practice until 1979. From 1971 to 1973 she served as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Colorado and the University of Denver. She served as a judge of the Denver District Court from 1979 through 1990.

The number of court opinions authored by Judge Rothenberg during the two years she has served on the Court of Appeals reflect that she is conscientious and devoted to her work. She was generally praised as an excellent judge by the survey of attorneys who have practiced before her in the Court of Appeals.

The State Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge Sandra I. Rothenberg BE RETAINED.
