Judge Connie L. Peterson graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Superior in 1968. She was a high school teacher and taught at the U.S. Department of Defense Overseas School in Zaragoza, Spain. She received her law degree from the University of Colorado in December 1975.
Judge Peterson was a law clerk in the public defender’s office, a deputy district attorney, assistant attorney general and spent three years in private practice. In private practice she practiced civil and criminal litigation and water law.
Judge Peterson was appointed in January 1985 and became chief judge in January 1993. As Chief Judge, she oversees the administration of the court and presides over the state grand jury. She has handled criminal, domestic relations, and civil case dockets.
Judge Peterson was rated highly in evaluations by attorneys, litigants, jurors, and courthouse personnel. Based on the evaluations, a personal interview, and observations in her courtroom, Judge Peterson is a competent, conscientious judge who enjoys a high performance rating.
The Second Judicial District Commission on Performance recommends Judge Peterson BE RETAINED.
