Palmieri, Linda 1996 Evaluation

First Judicial District - Jefferson County Court Judge

Honorable Linda Theresa Palmieri

Retention Year: 1996
Recommendation: Retain

Based upon all the information, the Commission on Judicial Performance recommends Judge Linda Theresa Palmieri BE RETAINED.

Judge Linda Palmieri was appointed to the county court in February 1982. Previously she was a deputy district attorney in the First Judicial District; assistant attorney general; and staff attorney for the legislative drafting office of the Colorado Legislature. Judge Palmieri served on the Board of Governors of the Colorado and First Judicial District Bar Associations. She is on the faculty of the National Judicial College, a board member of the Arvada Arts Council, and past president of the Mt. Evans Hospice of Evergreen. She is a past president of the Colorado Association of County Judges. In 1992 she received the Cenikor Award of Excellence.

Judge Palmieri presides over civil, traffic, misdemeanor, and criminal cases; temporary restraining orders; and felony preliminary hearings.

A large majority of responses from survey groups recommended her retention. Judge Palmieri consistently received praise for her knowledge of the law and procedure from attorneys, court personnel and jurors. Her oral and written decisions are clear and prompt. Current surveys from law enforcement personnel show that Judge Palmieri continues to improve when compared to 1992 survey results. The judge is working hard to address this area. Written comments stated that Judge Palmieri has grown professionally on the bench.
