Noble, Laurie 1998 Evaluation

Ninth Judicial District - Rio Blanco County Court Judge

Honorable Laurie Anne Noble

Retention Year: 1998
Recommendation: Retain

The Ninth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge Laurie Anne Noble BE RETAINED.

Judge Noble was appointed to the Associate County Court of Rio Blanco County in 1992.

Judge Noble by review is an outstanding judge and a credit to Colorado's judicial system. Her court in Rangely is isolated from other courts (50 miles to the nearest court which is, itself, isolated). One of the ways she compensates for this disadvantage is in steady and conscientious study.

The statistical information and the written comments from polling clearly indicate that Judge Noble is praiseworthy in every category. The statistical data and the comments are nearly unanimous in their praise. Sentencing is by law and conservative.

The Commission found Judge Noble to be thoughtful, pleasant, polite and studious. She appears to have a quiet confidence and an ability to draw her own conclusions and make her own assessments without an effort to reflect upon how others might criticize. At least one observer considers her to be the best judge on the western slope. She possesses, in a quiet and pleasing manner, all of the attributes of a superior judge.

The Commission urges those voters who habitually vote against the retention of any and all judges to vote for the retention of this outstanding judge. Percentage rates for the retention of Judge Noble are: Attorneys 100%, Court Personnel 100%, Jurors 100% and Litigants 100%.

The Ninth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge Laurie Anne Noble be retained in office.
