The Twenty-First Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge Nicholas R. Massaro, Jr. BE RETAINED.
In its evaluation of Judge Massaro, the Commission considered surveys of attorneys and non-attorneys who had appeared before the judge. The Commission also conducted an interview with the judge and observed him in court.
Of the non-attorneys surveyed, 93% recommended Judge Massaro be retained in office, 3% recommended he not be retained and 4% had no opinion. Of the attorneys surveyed, 93% recommended Judge Massaro be retained in office, 3% recommended he not be retained and 3% had no opinion.
In his self-evaluation, Judge Massaro anticipated the few criticisms that were expressed in the survey. He received some negative comments from attorneys who felt he was overly impatient with attorneys who were late or unprepared for proceedings.
His strong points include efficient docket management, courteousness to those in the court and fairness. The Commission feels the results of the survey referred to above accurately reflect the excellent performance of Judge Massaro and the Commission strongly recommends that Judge Massaro be retained.
