Judge Marshall was admitted to the Colorado Bar in 1975. She was a deputy district attorney in Pueblo, Colorado for five years, after which she maintained a private practice in Canon City, Colorado until her appointment on the bench. She served as the Canon City Municipal Judge from December, 1981 to May 1992.

Judge Marshal’s court deals with felony criminal cases, civil disputes, family law, and other matters over which the district court has jurisdiction.

Shortly after her appointment to the district court bench, Judge Marshall began a project to require a seminar for divorcing parents. The program has been adopted in the Eleventh Judicial District and appears to be successful and helpful to parents and children in divorce situations.

Judge Marshall received high ratings on surveys sent to courthouse and law enforcement personnel, jurors and attorneys who have had contact with Judge Marshall in her capacity as district court judge. The survey results indicate she is viewed as being fair, patient, and possesses good understanding of the law, evidence, and procedure.

The Commission found Judge Marshall to be honest, sincere, courteous, and conscientious. She strives for improvement in all areas, is open to suggestions as well as criticisms, and focuses her attention on doing the best possible job as district court judge.

The Eleventh Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge Julie G. Marshall BE RETAINED.
