Second Judicial District - Denver County Court Judge
Honorable Lawrence A. Manzanares
Retention Year: 1994
Recommendation: Retain
Judge Lawrence A. Manzanares graduated from the University of Denver in 1979 and received his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1982.
Prior to his appointment as a county judge on February 14, 1992, Judge Manzanares was in private practice for ten years, emphasizing commercial litigation. His first two years as a judge were in the traffic division. On July 1, 1994, he began hearing general sessions cases involving Denver city ordinances.
Attorney evaluations rated Judge Manzanares as a competent judge. Both the traffic and ordinance violation divisions have heavy schedules. Survey results and courtroom observation by the Commission show that Judge Manzanares fairly considers the interest of persons appearing before him and communicates well with persons appearing without attorneys.
The Second Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge Manzanares BE RETAINED.
