The Sixteenth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance strongly recommends that Judge Mark A. MacDonnell BE RETAINED.
Judge MacDonnell was appointed to the County Court of Bent County in 1993. He has served within that capacity from that time until the present. Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge MacDonnell practiced law in Denver and Las Animas. The Commission notes that Judge MacDonnell is extremely active in his community.
Of the attorney responses received by the Commission, 90% voted to retain Judge MacDonnell. Of the non-attorney responses, 78% voted to retain Judge MacDonnell.
The Commission was impressed with Judge MacDonnell's performance and believes that he is a credible and outstanding county judge. Despite advertised requests for local comment and public hearings, there were no written negative comments directed to any Commission member concerning Judge MacDonnell.
From the information received by the Commission, Judge MacDonnell's statistical rating is high overall, and those polled emphasized Judge MacDonnell's fair mindedness and community service. He has demonstrated consistent dedication to the prompt administration of justice and fair mindedness in his court.
The Commission is satisfied that Judge MacDonnell is committed to fair and prompt judicial determinations, providing a prejudice and bias free courtroom and providing an appropriate forum for the interface between the legal system and Bent County residents.
The Commission unanimously voted to strongly recommend retention of Judge Mark A. MacDonnell.
