The Twenty-Second Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge Christopher D. Leroi BE RETAINED.
Judge Leroi was appointed to the County Court of Montezuma County on October 28, 1995. Prior to his appointment he was in private practice, and before going into private practice he had been a Deputy District Attorney in the Twenty-Second Judicial District, District Attorney's Office.
Judge Leroi currently hears cases as a magistrate in the District Court, as well as discharging his regular duties in the County Court. These include both criminal and civil cases up to the jurisdictional limit of the Court.
An overwhelming majority of those surveyed in questionnaires distributed to litigants, law enforcement personnel, court personnel, jurors and attorneys who have been involved in court proceedings before Judge Leroi recommended that he be retained. Judge Leroi received praise in many areas covered in the surveys and in particular he received praise for his legal knowledge and of his willingness to research the law if he does not have a ready answer. There were many comments in the survey in which it was indicated that various persons surveyed, whether litigants, jurors or victims were extremely impressed with his patience and even demeanor on the bench.
