Judge Leopold was admitted to the Colorado Bar in 1974. He was in private practice for 13 years before his judicial appointment in 1987. Leopold is a district judge and he sits at the Arapahoe Justice Center. He handles juvenile and criminal matters.
The surveyed groups were very favorable toward Leopold. The written comments stated he was an outstanding judge; however, probation and social service workers commented he avoids placing children in institutions. The judicial performance commission, after an interview, concluded that Judge Leopold was dedicated, caring and concerned about improvement of the juvenile system.
