The Fifth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge David R. Lass BE RETAINED.
Judge Lass received his bachelor's degree from Valparaiso University in 1965 and his law degree from Wayne State University in 1968. Judge Lass has served as district judge since 1996 after serving as Summit County Judge for 10 years. He is a candidate for a Master's Degree in Judicial Studies at the National Judicial College, and is currently an active member of the Supreme Court Committee on the Efficient and Effective Use of Jurors.
Judge Lass received very high marks for his knowledge of the law, his courtroom manner, and the consideration given to litigants and cases. He sits primarily in Eagle County. He remains devoted to his work despite having to travel on a regular basis to hear cases in Clear Creek, Lake, Summit and Eagle County.
