Judge Hoyer passed the bar in 1980. From that time until his appointment to the bench in 1987, Hoyer was in private practice in Akron. Because Hoyer is a part-time judge, he continues his private practice in Akron.
Hoyer received universally high marks from surveyed attorneys with 92.9% of attorneys surveyed who voiced an opinion recommending his retention. Hoyer also received favorable marks from other groups surveyed, including jurors, litigants, staff and law enforcement personnel. All areas of Hoyer’s judicial performance were rated highly by all groups.
