Judge Heydt received his undergraduate degree from Colorado College in 1976.

In 1978, he received his law degree from Washburn University School of Law.

His experience prior to serving on the bench includes private practice, serving as a deputy district attorney and as deputy city attorney for Colorado Springs.

He has served as an El Paso County Court Judge since his appointment in November 1987.

Hi current caseload includes civil and criminal court matters and he also hears district court cases when requested in areas of civil and mental health matters.

The majority of survey respondents feel very favorable toward Heydt.
