Judge Sharon L. Hansen was admitted to the Colorado Bar in 1977. She served with the City Attorney’s Office in Denver, Colorado from 1978 to 1979, and then entered into private practice in Cortez, Colorado from 1980 through 1982. During 1983 and 1984, she was employed by the District Attorney’s Office in the Twenty-Second Judicial District. She was again in private practice until appointment to the County Court bench in 1986.
Judge Hansen presides over the criminal, traffic, civil and small claims cases in Montezuma County as well as preliminary hearings in felony cases.
From responses received, the majority of the individuals rated Judge Hansen favorable as to her overall performance. Law enforcement personnel rated Judge Hansen highly on questions of integrity, on whether her decisions were clear, and on her preparation and control of judicial proceedings. They were split in their evaluations of her sentencing practices. Attorney, court personnel and juror evaluations indicated she displays knowledge of the law, her decisions are clear and prompt, her demeanor was appropriate, and her sentencing was fair.
The 22nd Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge Sharon L. Hansen be Retained.
