Judge Garrecht was admitted to the Colorado Bar in 1979. He was a deputy district attorney in southeastern Colorado until 1981 when he became a deputy district attorney in Routt County. He was in private practice from 1983 until his appointment as the judge for Routt County in 1986. Judge Garrecht also serves as a domestic relations referee for Routt and Moffat counties.
Garrecht presides over traffic and misdemeanor criminal cases, including drunken driving cases, preliminary hearings in felony matters, small claims cases and civil cases, involving claims up to $5,000.
Most litigants, attorneys and law enforcement people found Garrecht to be a competent and fair judge.
