Eighteenth Judicial District - District Court Judge
Honorable Timothy Louis Fasing
Retention Year: 1998
Recommendation: Retain
The Eighteenth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends unanimously that Judge Timothy Louis Fasing BE RETAINED.
Judge Fasing has a Bachelors degree from the University of Minnesota in 1970 and law degree from the University of Colorado in 1975. Judge Fasing attended the National Judicial College in 1991.
Judge Fasing has served on the Arapahoe County Court bench for 8 years, as a County Court Judge from 1990 to 1994 and a District Court Judge from 1995 to the present. He was a prosecuting attorney from 1975 to 1979, then entered private practice.
86% of attorneys polled were in favor of retaining Judge Fasing. Likewise, 92% of non-attorneys (litigants and court personnel) were in favor of his retention. Most of the written comments were positive, except in the area of courtroom docket control. Docket control describes a judge's ability to pace cases, allowing for sufficient time for each case to be heard fairly yet not slowing down the entire caseload of the court.
The Commission expressed their concern to Judge Fasing regarding his docket control. He is currently assigned a criminal docket, which is very time sensitive. Judge Fasing also expressed concern and stated that he was applying docketing techniques from the National Judicial College as well as discussing suggestions with his colleagues. The Commission is satisfied that his solution would allow for quick and fair resolution of his cases.
