The Tenth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge David W. Crockenberg BE RETAINED. Ten commission members participated in the process and all ten voted for Judge Crockenberg's retention.
Judge Crockenberg was appointed to the Tenth Judicial District Court in December 2002. Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Crockenberg was in private practice as a trial attorney in Pueblo specializing in insurance defense, employment law, and personal injury. Judge Crockenberg received his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and his law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Judge Crockenberg presides over criminal, domestic, juvenile, and probate cases.
The Tenth Judicial District Performance Commission found Judge Crockenberg to be dedicated to the bench and committed to learn from his weaknesses. In the personal interview with Judge Crockenberg, the commission noted his candor and sincerity in this regard.
Judge Crockenberg received positive ratings from both attorneys and non-attorneys in most categories, particularly his willingness to reconsider prior rulings. He is noted for treating everyone involved politely and treating participants with respect. Ninety-seven percent (97%) of the attorneys recommended that Judge Crockenberg be retained on the bench. Ninety-percent (90%) of the non-attorneys recommended retention in office. The most consistent opinion of both attorneys and non-attorneys was that in spite of Judge Crockenberg's recent appointment to the bench, he is fair, impartial, and approachable.
