The Fifth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge Edward J. Casias BE RETAINED.


Judge Casias graduated from Colorado College in 1987 and received his law degree from Ohio State University College of Law in 1990.


Judge Casias has served in Summit County for 3 years. His prior position was as Assistant District Attorney for the Fifth Judicial District. His community involvement has been with drunk driving prevention programs, Rotary Club, firefighting, the Hispanic Bar and Advocates for Victims of Assault.


Judge Casias has prided himself on being a community servant that is fair, punctual, even-tempered and professional in dealing with everyone appearing before the court.
Judge Casias has promised to improve in the areas of knowledge of civil law, exparte communications and willingness to reconsider error in fact or law.


Judge Casias received slightly below average marks in all categories by attorneys with a retention recommendation rate of 71% and a non-retention rate of 29%. Marks by non-attorneys were uniformly above average in all categories with a retention recommendation rate of 94% and a non-retention rate of 6%.


The Fifth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge Casias be retained.
