The Thirteenth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance unanimously recommends Yuma County Judge Thomas J. Callahan BE RETAINED.
Judge Callahan was appointed to the bench in January 1992. He maintains a general practice of law in Wray in addition to part-time duties as County Judge. Judge Callahan hears criminal, misdemeanor, traffic, traffic infractions and civil cases in his Court.
Evaluations received from attorneys, law enforcement personnel, courthouse personnel and jurors rated Judge Callahan's performance highly. The survey comments were generally favorable. Judge Callahan reported that he has worked to maintain an appropriate demeanor in the courtroom since 1994 when he last stood for retention.
Judge Callahan deals with the frustrations of an increasing number of undocumented people appearing on his docket.
