Seventeenth Judicial District - Adams County Court Judge

Honorable Cindy H. Bruner

Retention Year: 1994
Recommendation: Retain

#FFFFFF

Judge Bruner received her undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont in 1978, and her law degree for the University of Colorado in 1984. She was admitted to the Colorado Bar in 1984. Judge Bruner was a Deputy District Attorney in Adams County from 1985 until 1991, when she was appointed to the Adams County Court.

As a County Court Judge her docket is primarily criminal, traffic and misdemeanor cases. According to her self-assessment, her strengths include her knowledge of courtroom procedures, her handling of evidence, and being a good listener. Her goal for personal development is to stay up-to-date.

The Commission’s review of the questionnaires completed by attorneys, law enforcement officers, court personnel, litigants and jurors indicated vary favorable ratings in all areas of the evaluation. While there were several negative comments, they were more than offset by words of praise for her knowledge of the law and procedures, her fairness, her courtesy toward defendants and attorneys, and her ability to maintain control in the courtroom. Eighty-nine percent of those who completed questionnaires recommended retention.

During her interview with the commission, Judge Bruner came across as direct, honest, candid, fair and tough on repeat and violent offenders.

The Commission recommends unanimously that Judge Bruner BE RETAINED.
