It is the opinion of the Fourth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance that Judge Rebecca Snyder Bromley BE RETAINED.
Judge Rebecca Snyder Bromley was appointed to the El Paso County Court as a county court judge in January 1987. Judge Bromley graduated from Smith College, Northampton, Massachusetts with an A.B. degree. She subsequently received a J.D. form the University of Virginia School of Law in 1971. In May 1995 she received a Master of Judicial Studies from the University of Nevada Reno. She established a private practice of law in Colorado Springs from June 1973 until September 1981, at which point she was appointed a District Court Referee for the Fourth Judicial District.
Judge Bromley has been an active member of the community, having served on a number of Boards. She was recently published in Law and Psychology Review, University of Alabama, School of Law under title, “Jury Leniency in Drinking and Driving Cases, 1958 vs. 1993.”
Judge Bromley received exceptionally high ratings from all groups that were polled. 93% of the attorneys responding voted to retain her, and 100% of the jurors and law enforcement personnel participating in the poll voted to retain her. Evidently, 100% of the attorneys felt that she sentences fairly. With the exception of knowledge of the law (87.5%), knowledge of evidence and procedure (87.5%), and motions judge (89.6%), Judge Bromley received in excess of 92% favorable ratings in all other categories. Judge Bromley expressed a keen interest in working to improve the court system.
