The Twenty-Second Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance unanimously recommends that Judge E. Dale Boyd BE RETAINED.

Background: Judge Boyd was appointed as the Dolores County Court Judge for Dolores County on January 4, 2005. Previous judicial experience includes serving as a Municipal Judge in the town of Dove Creek from July 17, 2004 to present. Judge Boyd graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Science from New Mexico State University. Judge Boyd also works as a rancher specializing in alfalfa hay production and raising Limousine cattle. He is involved in his community serving as a speaker at the local high school, talking to seniors on underage drinking, domestic violence and other areas of interest.

Strengths: There were limited numbers of available responses from attorneys. Non-attorneys who responded to survey questions rated Judge Boyle as well above average in treating people fairly who represented themselves and above average in overall communication, fairness, and application of the law. Non-attorneys also commented that Judge Boyle is well versed in the law, honorable, unbiased, and treated all people regardless of their education or background with the same respect and dignity.

The Commission reviewed various opinions that Judge Boyd had written and conducted a personal interview with Judge Boyd. Judge Boyd recognizes that there are areas where he could improve his performance and he is actively seeking additional training.

Recommendation: The majority of all non-attorneys surveyed strongly recommended that Judge Boyd be retained in office.
