The Twenty-First Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge David A. Bottger BE RETAINED.

Surveys that were completed on Judge Bottger’s judicial performance rated him very high in virtually every category. Judge Bottger’s overall grade, as assessed by both attorneys and non-attorneys, was an A-. Eighty-eight percent of non-attorneys and 93% of attorneys recommended that Judge Bottger be retained in office.

The Commission found Judge Bottger to be very insightful into both his strengths and his weaknesses. His self-evaluation paralleled the evaluations of others. Judge Bottger expressed a willingness to address areas of his performance that were below his expectations, even though he was above average in all areas.

The Commission found Judge Bottger to be a compassionate individual who wishes to make a positive difference in the lives of those who appear before him. He expressed particular concern about young persons who were before him, hoping that something he said would help these individuals have a productive life. Judge Bottger was found to be intelligent, conscientious and an extremely hard working judge. He takes his position on the bench very seriously, and makes a concerted effort to serve individuals and justice. Based on the intensive interview the Commission had with Judge Bottger, the Commission felt Judge Bottger deserved the high ratings he received in the surveys.
