Nineteenth Judicial District - Weld County Court Judge
Honorable A. Andrew Borg
Retention Year: 1990
Recommendation: Retain
Judicial Performance Commission’s recommendation: Should Be Retained.
Judge Borg was admitted to the bar in 1967 after graduation from law school at the University of Colorado. He has been in private practice and served as an attorney with Colorado Rural Legal Services. His appointment as a county court judge was made in September 1975 and he has served in that capacity until the present time.
Borg is member of the Domestic Violence Task Force, the Women’s Place Board of Directors, and the Greeley Bootlegger Soccer Club board of directors. He has served as a chairman of the Colorado Supreme Court Committee on Rules for Traffic Infractions as well as other bar-related activities. He is a member of the Weld County and Colorado Bar associations.
He presides over traffic matters including drunken driving cases, misdemeanor and civil matters involving less than $5,000.
The majority of all surveyed groups recommended retention for Borg. Responses to the survey indicate while Borg had more than an adequate command of the law and procedure, respondents to the survey wrote he could be abrupt and impatient in his dealings with attorneys and private citizens.
