The Second Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance unanimously recommends that Judge Larry L. Bohning BE RETAINED.


Judge Bohning was appointed to the Denver County Court bench in January 1980. Prior to his appointment, Judge Bohning was an Assistant City Attorney. Judge Bohning also worked for the Colorado General Assembly in the 1970’s, drafting legislation. Judge Bohning grew up in South Dakota and received his undergraduate degree from Dakota Wesleyan and his law degree from the University of South Dakota.


Judge Bohning is interested in Colorado history and participates in historical reenactments. He is on the board of the Community College of Denver Foundation and is an officer in the Denver Rotary Club.


Judge Bohning’s overall average grades as indicated in the 2006 survey show higher than average in all categories in both attorney and non-attorney surveys with the exception of a slightly lower than average score from attorneys in overall communications.


Ninety-seven per cent of the attorneys who responded to the survey recommended that Judge Bohning be retained. Five percent recommended non-retention. Of the non-attorneys who responded 95 % recommended that Judge Bohning be retained and 5 % recommended that he not be retained.
