Second Judicial District - District Court Judge
Honorable David E. Ramirez
Retention Year: 1992
Recommendation: Retain
David E. Ramirez graduated from the University of Colorado in 1975 with a degree in Political Science. He received his law degree in June 1978 from the University of Iowa School of Law, and was admitted to the Colorado Bar in September 1978. He was appointed to the Denver County Court in June 1985, and to the District Court bench in April 1989.
Judge Ramirez is currently assigned to the Juvenile Court and hears such matters as juvenile delinquency, dependency and neglect, paternity, support and adoption.
The attorney and courthouse personnel questionnaires received by the Commission rate Judge Ramirez highly overall. He received high marks for compassion, integrity, demeanor and courtroom control. The Commission interviewed representatives for the Denver City Attorney’s office, the Public Defender’s office, the Sam Cary Bar Association and other private attorneys who have appeared before Judge Ramirez.
Judge Ramirez presided in one of the more difficult areas of law, with a court docket that is overflowing and understaffed. He is considered a hard-working, compassionate but firm, and a conscientious and competent judge who serves juveniles, families and the public well. Aside from Judge Ramirez’ responsibilities as a juvenile court judge, his work extends into the community.
The 2nd Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge David E. Ramirez be retained.
