Judge Plotz was admitted to the Colorado Bar in October, 1973. He served as Public Defender in the 11th Judicial District from 1979 to 1989. He was appointed to the district court bench on February 1, 1989.
Judge Plotz presides over felonies, juvenile proceedings, large civil disputes, divorces, probate cases, child custody matters, mental health inquiries, and appeals from County Court cases.
All the groups surveyed rated Judge Plotz substantially above average on questions dealing with his integrity, fairness, sense of justice, legal reasoning and ability and decision making. He is viewed as being a hard working judge who is courteous. Some parties did question his working knowledge of civil law and certain judicial rules and procedures. However, the Commission was convinced that Judge Plotz continues to make diligent efforts to broaden his overall knowledge of the law. The majority of questionnaires expressed strong support for his retention in office. The commission also considered comments made during public heearings.
