The Judicial Performance Commission of the Second Judicial District recommends that Judge Ortiz-White BE RETAINED.
Judge Aleene J. Ortiz-White is a graduate of the University of Puget Sound Law School (now Seattle University Law School). She was admitted to practice in Colorado in 1983 and was initially in private practice. She was a member of the Denver public defender’s office from 1984 through 1987. She was an assistant Denver city attorney from 1987 until her appointment to the county court bench in May of 1989.
Judge Ortiz-White is currently in the civil division, but has also heard cases in the traffic, general sessions and criminal divisions of the court.
From evaluations received, 90% of attorneys favored Judge Ortiz-White’s retention.
Judge Ortiz-White has or is serving on several committees of county judges dealing with the operation of the county court. She is currently a member of the Colorado Supreme Court Committee for Jury Reform.
Written survey results showed that 87.9% of attorneys and 91.3% of jurors favored retention; and 12.1% of attorneys and 8.7% of jurors favored non-retention.
