Judge Nossaman was appointed County Court Judge of San Juan County on September 27, 1989. He has previously served as County Court Judge between 1971 and 1974. Judge Nossaman is a non-attorney.
The San Juan County Court Judgeship is a part-time position. Judge Nossaman presides over primarily traffic cases. He also presides over civil cases, small claims cases, misdemeanors, felony preliminary matters, and limited domestic relations matters. In addition, Judge Nossaman is actively involved as a facilitator and instructor in Silverton’s Youth Court program.
Responses received by the Commission form attorneys, litigants, jurors, and law enforcement personnel were nearly unanimous in recommending retention.
