The Eighteenth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance unanimously recommends that Judge Dana Elizabeth Murray BE RETAINED.

Judge Murray’s current assignments include traffic, civil, and misdemeanor offenses. Her experience includes court trials that involve jury trials, restraining orders, felony advisements, bond hearings, and preliminary hearings.

The Commission conducts extensive research in making this recommendation, including use of surveys conducted on the judge, a self-evaluation written by the judge, interviews with people involved in the courtroom, and personal observations in the courtroom.
The comments and other information received by the Commission about Judge Murray were overwhelmingly positive. Comments from attorneys responding to the survey noted that Judge Murray is well prepared on her cases, is prompt and efficient in running her courtroom and has an excellent grasp of the law. Many respondents describe Judge Murray as one of the best judges they have ever seen. Among the non-attorney comments, she was described as courteous, patient, fair, professional, and respectful.
One hundred percent of attorney’s responding to the questionnaires strongly recommended that Judge Murray be retained. Among the non-attorney respondents, 94% recommended her retention.

Judge Murray was appointed to the bench in August 1992. Before her appointment to the court, Judge Murray was a Deputy District Attorney in the Eighteenth Judicial District. Judge Murray received her undergraduate degree from Colorado College and her law degree from the University of Denver College of Law.
It is clear that Judge Murray is an outstanding judge and should be retained.
