Marcucci, John 1996 Evaluation

Second Judicial District - Denver County Court Judge

Honorable John M. Marcucci

Retention Year: 1996
Recommendation: Retain

The Judicial Performance Commission of the Second Judicial District recommends that Judge Marcucci BE RETAINED.

Judge John M. Marcucci graduated from Regis College in 1975 with a degree in Economics and Accounting. He attended the University of Denver College of Law and was admitted to the bar in 1978. He was an associate with Leland Huttner, P.C., and Kidneigh & Hughes, and later a partner with Hughes, Clikeman & Marcucci, P.C. until 1990. He was appointed to the bench in February 1990.

Judge Marcucci is currently hearing cases in the criminal division. Previously he worked in traffic and general sessions (city ordinance violations) divisions.

Judge Marcucci advised the Commission on Judicial Performance that he has heard 150 jury trials in the last five and one-half years. Judge Marcucci generally received high rating in most areas from attorneys and law enforcement officials responding to the surveys. However, the judge is aware of some concerns regarding his level of communication in the courtroom and agrees to work on improvement in that area. Judge Marcucci otherwise received high marks from jurors, law enforcement officials and attorney evaluations.

Written survey results showed that 79.6% of attorneys and 100% of jurors favored retention; 16.7% of attorneys favored non-retention; and 3.7% of attorneys had no opinion.
