Johnson, Bob 1992 Evaluation

Twenty-Second Judicial District - Dolores County Court Judge

Honorable Bob G. Johnson

Retention Year: 1992
Recommendation: Retain

Judge Bob G. Johnson was appointed as Dolores County Judge on March 12, 1981. Prior to that appointment, he was elected Dolores County Sheriff in 1962 and served in that position until 1972. He was a miner for Union Carbide from January, 1968 to December, 1982.

Judge Johnson presides over the criminal, traffic, civil, and small claims cases in Dolores County as well as preliminary hearings in felony cases.

Although there were relatively few responses due to the size of Judge Johnson’s docket, the majority of individuals rated Judge Johnson favorable as to his overall performance. Some respondents mentioned written and oral decisions were not always clear. Law enforcement and attorney responses indicated he managed his court adequately and he had the capacity to make decisions without regard to the popularity of the decision. The responses also showed Judge Johnson to be courteous, punctual, and as having an appropriate demeanor and control over the courtroom.

The 22nd Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge Bob G. Johnson be Retained.
