The First Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that County Judge Charles T. Hoppin BE RETAINED.
Judge Hoppin was appointed to the Jefferson County Court in May 1996. Prior to his appointment, he was a Deputy District Attorney from 1969 to 1972. He practiced law privately from 1972 to 1996 with emphasis on domestic law and criminal defense.
Judge Hoppin is an active volunteer with the Bar Association, the Jefferson County Mentoring Program, and is a past member of the Community Corrections Board.
The Judge received high approval in all categories from respondents to surveys. Most notably were his courtesy, impartiality and ability to communicate.
