Tenth Judicial District - District Court Judge
Honorable Eugene T. Halaas Jr.
Retention Year: 1992
Recommendation: Retain
Judge Eugene T. Halaas was admitted to the practice of law in 1963. He was in private practice until appointed to the County Court bench in Pueblo County in 1972. He presided in County Court until 1989 when he was appointed to the district court bench. Judge Halaas presently presides over Division C of the District Court. His caseload includes criminal, civil, domestic, and juvenile matters.
A survey conducted to evaluation the performance of Judge Halaas sought responses from members of law enforcement, courthouse personnel, attorney, jurors, litigants and members of the community. Some responses to the survey indicated that Judge Halaas was unprepared and lacked understanding of the issues. However, most comments indicated Judge Halaas was compassionate, conscientious, courteous, hard-working and even-tempered. Of the persons responding to the survey, 80% recommended retention of Judge Halaas.
The 10th Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge Eugene T. Halaas, Jr. be retained.
