Tenth Judicial District - Pueblo County Court Judge

Honorable Adele K. Anderson

Retention Year: 1996
Recommendation: Retain

The Tenth District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge Anderson BE RETAINED.

Judge Adele K. Anderson was admitted to the practice of law in 1981. She was in private practice until appointment to the county court bench in Pueblo in 1989. Judge Anderson presides over division 2 of the county court. Her case load includes primarily felony hearings, misdemeanor criminal cases, traffic cases, restraining order requests and civil cases where the amount in dispute is less than $10,000.

A survey was conducted to evaluate the performance of Judge Anderson from members of law enforcement, attorneys, litigants, jurors, and court personnel. Based upon these surveys, law enforcement members, jurors and court personnel rated Judge Anderson highly on treating parties equally, displaying a sense of fairness and justice, and maintaining courtroom control. Attorneys evaluating Judge Anderson’s performance gave her high marks for maintaining courtroom control, working diligently, issuing prompt rulings and being punctual. However, a large number of attorneys expressed concerns about her ability to issue written decisions clearly, to decide motions satisfactorily and be fair in sentencing.

Law enforcement members, jurors and court personnel strongly recommended that Judge Anderson be retained. More than half of attorneys responding to the survey recommended she be retained.
