Alvarez, Federico 1998 Evaluation

Second Judicial District - District Court Judge

Honorable Federico C. Alvarez

Retention Year: 1998
Recommendation: Retain

The Second Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance recommends that Judge Federico C. Alvarez BE RETAINED.

Judge Alvarez graduated from Pan American University in 1977 and received his law degree from Harvard Law School. He was admitted to the Colorado Bar in October 1980. Prior to his appointment to the Denver district court, Judge Alvarez served as a Denver county court judge for over two years serving in both the civil division and traffic division. Prior to that, he was an assistant attorney general in the consumer protection division for over three years; and was a deputy state public defender in the Denver office for over three years.

Judge Alvarez was appointed to the district court on February 2, 1990. He currently serves in the criminal division and has also served in the domestic relations and civil divisions.

As a professional goal Judge Alvarez would like to develop computerized information for all divisions in order to minimize the transition between divisions. He is also interested in learning teaching skills to help train new judges.

In a Commission survey, attorneys voted 87.2% to retain, and 12.8% voted not to retain.
