The Eighth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance agrees by a vote of 9-0 that Judge Gregory M. Lammons MEETS PERFORMANCE STANDARDS. The Colorado statutory judicial performance standards are integrity, legal knowledge, communication skills, judicial temperament, administrative performance, and service to the legal profession and the public.
As a District Court Judge, Judge Lammons presides over civil, dependency and neglect, probate, and mental health cases. The Commission finds that Judge Lammons demonstrates a strong commitment to preserving the dignity and fairness of court proceedings. Judge Lammons recognizes the benefits of courtroom technology that was used during the pandemic and expressed his intent to use some of this technology moving forward to provide greater access to the courtroom. In addition, Judge Lammons reported that this technology allowed him to observe himself in remote video court proceedings and to adjust what has sometimes been perceived as an overly serious demeanor.
The Commission conducted a personal interview with Judge Lammons, reviewed opinions he authored, observed him in court, and reviewed judicial performance survey responses from attorneys and non-attorneys who appeared in Judge Lammon’s courtroom. The Commission also met with representatives of the District Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Public Defender. A total of eighty-two individuals, sixty-five attorneys and seventeen non-attorneys, believed they had sufficient knowledge to express their opinion of Judge Lammons. When asked whether Judge Lammons meets performance standards: Of the attorneys responding to the survey, 84% answered yes, 8% answered no, and 8% had no opinion. Of the non-attorneys responding to the survey, 94% answered yes and 6% had no opinion. Judge Lammons received particularly high ratings in the area of case management.
Judge Lammons was appointed as a District Court Judge in the 8th Judicial District in July of 2010. Judge Lammons received his undergraduate degree from Boston College in 1991 and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Colorado in 1995. Prior to his appointment, Judge Lammons was a Chief Deputy District Attorney in the 8th Judicial District. For the past fourteen years, Judge Lammons has coached local high school students in mock trial team competitions.
